How to download and install
- Select your platform from the drop-down list above and click Download Now.
- Choose Run this program from its current location and click OK.
- Click Yes if asked whether you would like to install and run Microsoft Internet Explorer 4.01 Service Pack 2.
- Accept the License Agreement and click Next to begin the installation process.

Internet Explorer 4.01 with Service Pack 2 (SP2) addresses top issues reported to Microsoft Technical
Support regarding Internet Explorer 4.01 and includes all security updates which have been released since
Service Pack 1.
Note Users running Internet Explorer 5 or later do not need Internet Explorer 4.01 SP2.
System Requirements
To install Internet Explorer 4.01 Service Pack 2, your computer must meet the following minimum requirements:
- 486 processor for Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows NT 4.0 (x86 or Compaq DIGITAL Alpha) If running Windows NT 4.0, Service Pack 3 or later must be installed.
- 16 MB RAM for Windows 95 and Windows 98
- 24 MB RAM for Windows NT 4.0
- 34-74 MB disk space (depending on add-on components selected)
Service Pack 2 is not available for computers running Windows 3.1, Windows NT 3.51, or UNIX (Solaris or HP-UX).
How to use
Once installation is complete, open Internet Explorer.
How to uninstall
- Click Start, point to Settings and click Control Panel.
- Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
- Select Internet Explorer 4.01 and click Add/Remove to uninstall.
