Please note that the localized version of this release in Arabic and Hebrew languages can be installed only on localized versions of Windows 98 and Windows 2000. The English version of this release should be used for installation on all other platforms (Windows 95, Windows NT4® and non-localized Windows 98).
Windows 2000 Users:
Internet Explorer Setup for Windows 2000 does not allow you to customize the
installation or use any advanced options in the Setup program. This behavior
occurs because of the new Windows File Protection (WFP) feature in Windows 2000. For more information, please see Microsoft Knowledge Base Article Q256340.
If you are running Windows 95, Windows 98, or Windows NT® 4.0, installing Internet Explorer 5.5 will upgrade your computer to 128-bit encryption. If you are running Windows 2000, installing Internet Explorer 5.5 will not change the current level of encryption on your computer.
Note Internet Explorer 5.5 and Internet Tools is eligible for export from the U.S. to all customers worldwide, except to U.S. embargoed destinations. Information on exporting Microsoft products is available at www.microsoft.com/exporting/.
