How to download and install
- Select an item and a language from the drop-down lists above, then click Download Now.
- Choose Run this program from its current location and click OK.
- Click Yes if asked whether you would like to install and run Internet Explorer Security Update.
- Click Yes to begin the installation process.
Important If your browser is a version of Internet Explorer other than those listed above, your computer is still vulnerable. Microsoft recommends that you upgrade to the latest version of Internet Explorer.
Read This First
This update resolves the "Scriptlet Rendering" and "Frame Domain Verification" security vulnerabilities in Internet Explorer. Download now to prevent malicious Web site operators from reading your files when you visit their sites. These vulnerabilities do not give a malicious user the ability to add, change, or delete files on your computer.
The malicious web site operators must know or guess the exact name and path of each file they want to view. Even then, the only files that can be opened and viewed in a browser window are .txt or .doc files, but not .exe or .dat files.

This update also protects against several other vulnerabilities that were the subject of previously-released security bulletins. Specifically, if you apply this update, you'll also be protected against the vulnerabilities discussed in Microsoft Security Bulletins: MS00-033, MS00-039, MS00-049, and, for IE 5.5 only, MS00-042.
System Requirements
This update resolves the vulnerability in Internet Explorer 4.01 Service Pack 2 (SP2), Internet Explorer 5.01, Internet Explorer 5.01 SP1, and Internet Explorer 5.5. To verify which version of Internet Explorer you are running:
- Click Help in the Internet Explorer File Menu and then click About Internet Explorer.
- Apply this update if Version: is displayed as
- 4.72.3612.1713 for Internet Explorer 4.01 SP2,
- 5.0.2919.6307 for Internet Explorer 5.01 (if you are running Windows 2000, the Internet Explorer 5.01 version number will display as 5.00.2920.0000),
- 5.00.3105.0106 for Internet Explorer 5.01 SP1, or
- 5.50.4134.0600 for Internet Explorer 5.5.
If Help About does not display one of these version numbers, you'll need to upgrade to the latest version of Internet Explorer before installing this update.
